Vilmos Zsigmond and Yuri Neyman's Global Cinematography Institute continues its monthly film series on the History of Cinematography with the feature film adaptation of James Ellroy's pulp portrait of LA's gritty golden age: L.A. CONFIDENTIAL (1997). A modern masterpiece featuring Russell Crowe's best performance to date and masterful direction from Curtis Hanson, this is a film creatively firing on all cylinders. It's unclear whether the film will screen on 35mm or DCP, but the price tag of $5 (considered a donation to GCI rather than a standard transaction) is hard to beat. Also, based on an e-mail I received directly from Phillip Knotter (GCI's manager) it seems that the donation can include a +1, if you so choose. Don't quote me on that, but I might try it out and report back for this upcoming event. - SBP
